Junior Thespian Society
Welcome Troupe #89036!!!
Junior Thespians are members of the International Thespian Society.
What is the International Thespian Society?
The International Thespian Society (ITS), is an honorary group for middle and high school theatre students, it is a division of the Educational Theatre Association (EdTA). The mission of ITS is to honor student excellence in the theatre arts. Thespian and Junior Thespian troupes are the honors component of a school’s theatre program. ITS membership offers many valuable benefits, services, and opportunities to troupe directors, Thespians, and Junior Thespians alike.
What is the difference between the school’s Junior Thespian troupe and the theater program?
The Junior Thespian troupe and the school theatre department or programs are not one and the same. The Junior Thespian troupe is a subset of the theatre arts program. It is the student honor society, and membership is earned. Any student may be a member of the theatre program, but only students who have been officially inducted and registered with the EdTA home office are members of the theatre program and the International Thespian Society.
What are the benefits of becoming a Junior Thespian?

Membership in the only international honor society for high school and middle school theatre arts students—a recognized demonstration of achievement and a valuable addition to college and employment applications.
-

How can I become eligible for Induction into the troupe?
Junior Thespian points!!! The official ITS point system provides the recommended number of points awarded for a specific assignment. Troupe directors may use their discretion in awarding points according to the student’s quality of work and cooperation. Quality may include the caliber of the work done and the educational value of the experience. The Junior Thespian troupe director makes the final decision regarding the awarding of Junior Thespian points. To become a Junior Thespian, a student must earn 10 points, 5 of which should be acquired at the school where he or she is to be inducted.
