Bromley Theatre Guild

“Coming together is a beginning, keeping together is progress, Working together is success” – Henry Ford

The Bromley Theatre Guild consists of volunteers that are passionate and willing to volunteer and aide on a yearly basis to Bromley East Charter School Drama.  This Guild implements committed volunteers to assist in various areas of BECS Drama with the Drama Teacher Brandon Phelps leading and guiding.

Our main goal is to support the students of Bromley East Charter School Drama.

What is Bromley East Charter School Drama?

BECS Drama includes students in Bromley productions as actors, crew, and support staff, students in drama clubs, students in the Junior Thespian Society, and students in drama classes.

What type of support is needed throughout the year?

Support includes by may not be limited to volunteering for positions in productions (back stage, costuming, marketing, lighting, sound, set construction/painting, props, make-up, concessions, student supervision, etc.), aiding/supervising the students during drama events(Improv Nights, fundraisers, field trips, Dollar Theatre Nights, etc.), aiding/supervising a play rehearsal, and recruiting additional volunteers for the things mentioned above.

How much time does a volunteer have to commit?

As much as you can!  You do not have to be at every event.  The main things is to help other volunteers get excited and involved with the Guild as well as educate them about volunteer opportunities so we can have a strong support system for drama at Bromley East Charter School.  Obviously different roles have different levels of responsibilities; however you will always be made aware of the responsibility and time commitment before you volunteer for an event or activity.

What does the structure look like?

In this structure we have administration oversee/approve the layout of any event before it is published as an official event and added to the school calendar.  Mr. Phelps will serve as the lead of all drama department activities, events, and productions.   The Guild will have a monthly meeting led by Mr. Phelps to review and discuss upcoming events, ideas, what is working, what is not working, concerns, compliments, etc.  Every Guild member is equally important and no one has a higher position over the other.  Think of it as similar to King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table.  Each of you is now one of my Bromley knights!!  We will work together to maintain high standards, grow the drama department, and ensure the best drama experience for the students at Bromley.
